DSC Alarm System Serial Interface Daemon

The DSC Power Series security system supports a PC interface. The PC5401 Serial Interface Module can be used to both retrieve real-time events and also control a system.

The DSCD software implements a DSC Daemon for Linux. DSCD logs all DSC events (zone openings, zone closings, system troubles, alarms, etc) to syslog. Verbose names for events and zones are utilized. This allows for detailed auditing of a security system. The daemon also supports multiple clients (telnet, sockets, etc) to remotely control a system (arm, disarm, panic or trigger outputs). All DSC events are optionally available to the clients in real-time. Email alerts for alarm conditions are also supported. Both standard serial ports and PL-2303 based USB-to-serial adapters work.

This software can be used stand-alone for system monitoring or with high-level automation software.
